The Nedbank SAA Voyager Premium is a travel rewards credit card for people who fly often, especially with South African Airways. It turns everyday spending into SAA Voyager Miles and adds lounge access and travel insurance.

Nedbank publishes a minimum income of R25,000 per month. Your limit, interest rate and approval still depend on an affordability and credit assessment.

Before you apply, it helps to see what the card costs, how the miles work and whether you will really use the travel perks.

Nedbank SAA Voyager Premium: main benefits

  • Voyager Miles on spending. You earn SAA Voyager Miles on eligible spend, and the Amex version earns at a faster rate.
  • Bonus miles. Nedbank lists 19,000 bonus miles on your first SAA ticket that you buy and use, and 15,000 more when you reach R300,000 in spend.
  • SAA lounge access. Cardholders get unlimited access to SAA-owned departure lounges.
  • Travel insurance. Automatic basic travel insurance of up to R6,000,000 applies when you pay for your travel with the card.
  • Up to 55 interest-free days. This applies on purchases when you meet the repayment conditions.

Who can apply?

You need to be 18 or older, live in South Africa and earn at least R25,000 per month. A valid South African ID, or a passport with a work permit, is required.

Nedbank also asks for three months of payslips or bank statements. Every application goes through credit and affordability checks, so meeting the income level does not guarantee approval.

When another option may be better

This card may be a poor fit if you rarely fly or you tend to carry a balance. The fees and interest can easily cost more than the miles are worth, and a simple no-annual-perk card may serve you better.

Costs to check

Nedbank lists a R193 monthly service fee and a R36 monthly credit facility fee. The minimum repayment is 5% of the outstanding balance. Miles stop being earned once your monthly spend goes above R100,000, so check that cap if you spend heavily.

Frequently asked questions

Is approval guaranteed?

No. Nedbank reviews your income, credit record and affordability before it decides.

Do I need to fly SAA to benefit?

No, you earn miles on everyday spend. But the biggest perks, such as the ticket bonus and lounges, are built around SAA travel.

How do I apply?

The quickest route is the Nedbank Money app. You can also apply online, at a branch or through the call centre.
